The Veteran Sharpshooter carries Frag Grenades, which have a lot of high damage Area of Effect potential. Their Aura is called "Scavenger Hunt" which will grant allies in coherency a small amount of ammo whenever you or an ally kills an Elite enemy. Their tactical ability is "Volley Fire" which enters the sharpshooter into a ranged for 4s, instantly equipping their ranged weapon, and instantly designated nearby elite and special targets as Priority Targets. During this stance you also get +50% to your Ranged Damage.
The Veteran Sharpshooter doesn't seem to have a resource mechanic like the Preacher or Psykinetic, but it does have two base passives that come with the class. First passive is "Make Every Shot Count" which is a +15% damage increase to weak spot damage. Second is "Be Prepared" which increases the ammo reserve of the Veteran by 75% for all Ranged Weapons.
The second build I want to introduce from the Veteran Sharpshooter class is the Precision Scout. With this build we can play more off of the increased ammo reserve of the Veteran and also the damage increase to weak spots. These two perks make the veteran one of the best at mid to long range due to the potential to rack up headshots against enemies far away. I want to optimize this build around mid-line ranged with a potential to take out enemies from a farther range using a lasgun.
Here I will list the perks I chose for every 5 levels that the Veteran Sharpshooter gains. After I will talk a little more about how all of these perks can synergize to create a good build.
Style: Mid-line/back-line ranged
Focus: Balanced Hybrid leaning more towards anti-range/anti-horde and support
Melee Weapon: Cleave/Anti-Horde
Ranged Weapon: Lasgun
Level 5: Exhilarating Takedown
"Replenish 20% Toughness on Ranged Weak Spot Kill."
- This is great for being a sentry against other Ranged heretics. If you see a group of ranged enemies and you are out in the open, aim for the head and you should be able to sustain against a small group of ranged enemies.
Level 10: Tactical Reload
"+20% Reload Speed if you have Ammo in your weapon."
- With a single fire precision weapon you will probably finish most heretics before you are forced to reload. As long as you have some distance between you and the enemy, you should be able to take advantage of this perk most time, so that you can keep a steady stream of shots going into the horde.
Level 15: Covering Fire
"When you kill an enemy with a ranged attack, allies in melee range of the target Replenish 4% Toughness."
- For a mid-line ranged support, this is great to help your front line sustain against the horde.
Level 20: Camo Expert
"While standing still, enemies are significantly less likely to target you."
- This is good when you want to be in ranged most of the game. This will keep the aggression off of you so that your front line can soak up most of the threat and damage.
Level 25: One after another
"+50% Reload Speed on Elite Kill."
- You may have to unload most of your magazine into an elite, so this will keep you in the game after having to eliminate the elite threat.
Level 30: Deadly Focus
"During Volley Fire you have +95% Reduced Sway, +75% Reduced Recoil and +95% Reduced Spread."
- This will help in clutch scenarios when you need to focus in on applying a lot of precision damage in a short amount of time
With this build if you are looking to be on your ranged weapon for the majority of the match, this could effectively get you there. This is a good hybrid build that could be effective against the horde and against elites, but primarily it will be great at quickly eliminating ranged threats.
