Class Builds: Veteran, Sharpshooter: Assault Grenadier

Updated: Nov 6, 2022

The Veteran Sharpshooter carries Frag Grenades, which have a lot of high damage Area of Effect potential. Their Aura is called "Scavenger Hunt" which will grant allies in coherency a small amount of ammo whenever you or an ally kills an Elite enemy. Their tactical ability is "Volley Fire" which enters the sharpshooter into a ranged for 4s, instantly equipping their ranged weapon, and instantly designated nearby elite and special targets as Priority Targets. During this stance you also get +50% to your Ranged Damage.

The Veteran Sharpshooter doesn't seem to have a resource mechanic like the Preacher or Psykinetic, but it does have two base passives that come with the class. First passive is "Make Every Shot Count" which is a +15% damage increase to weak spot damage. Second is "Be Prepared" which increases the ammo reserve of the Veteran by 75% for all Ranged Weapons.

The first build I want to introduce from the Veteran Sharpshooter class is the assault grenadier. The Veteran Sharpshooter has the best grenade perks in the game as of right now, and so we should look at that potential to truly separate the class from the rest. This build will also incorporate a plasma weapon as the ranged weapon, therefore making it more of a mid-line position ranged class. For this build I will be playing off of the +15% damage increase to weak spot, 75% ammo for ranged weapons, Volley Fire, and Grenades.

Here I will list the perks I chose for every 5 levels that the Veteran Sharpshooter gains. After I will talk a little more about how all of these perks can synergize to create a good build.

Style: Mid-Line Ranged

Focus: Anti-Elite with some Horde clear capabilities

Melee Weapon: Cleave Weapon, Anti-horde

Ranged Weapon: Plasma Weapon

Level 5: Confirmed Kill

"Replenish 50% Toughness on Elite Kill, and a further 50% Toughness over time."

- For this build we will be in the thick of combat with the idea that we can melt elites with a plasma weapon. One kill can bring your toughness all the way back to 100% over time, which will be good when you are close enough to enemies to get hit, but not having to hold the front line.

Level 10: Demolition Stockpile

"Replenish 1 Grenade(s) every 45s."

- You should not have to worry about grenades with this perk. Toss them like it's your job, Grenadier.

Level 15: Demolition Team

"You and allies in Coherency have a 8% chance to gain a Grenade on Enemy Kill."

- Again, keep tossing those grenades, Grenadier

Level 20: Duck and Dive

"Dodging, Sprinting, or Sliding to avoid ranged attacks grants 20% Stamina."

- Since your plasma weapon won't necessarily be long range, you may need to utilize mobility to close the gap. This will keep your toughness up as you are being targeted by ranged enemies.

Level 25: Frag Storm

"Frag Grenades apply 1 stacks of Bleed to all enemies hit."

- This will make your grenades more lethal, and since you have plenty, this will result in mass carnage.

Level 30: Crackshot

"+75% Armour Penetration during Volley Fire."

- When you see an elite in front of you, popping Volley Fire and unloading your plasma weapon should topple most elites pretty quickly.

With this build this could be one of the best classes for Area of Effect damage. The ability to toss grenades almost non-stop will surely clear elites and the horde alike. A good hybrid build focused around your grenades.
