The Psyker Psykinetic has a unique ability called "Brain Burst" that targets an enemy and after a short time applies heavy damage to the enemy. This ability replaces the grenade for most classes. Their aura is called "Kinetic Presence" which allows allies in coherency to gain +10% damage to elite enemies. Their tactical ability is "Psykinetic's Wrath" which resets the peril you've accumulated to 0 and staggers enemies in front of you.
The Psyker Psykinetic has a resource mechanic called "Warp Siphon" that reads for every enemy you kill with "Brain Burst" grants you 1 (one) warp charge. Each charge grants you +3% damage. Warp charges are retained for 20s. You can store up to 4 (four) warp charges. The Psyker Pyskinetic also has one passive called "Inner Tranquility" which reduces peril generated by 10%.
The first build I want to introduce for the Psyker Psykinetic, I want to dive deeper into their unique Blitz "Brain Burst" and see how we can optimize a play style that revolves around this mechanic. We will also look into how we can use the "Warp Siphon" mechanic to de-buff elites and make them easier to take down quickly. This will be ideal for an anti-elite build, dipping into the effectiveness against the likes of even the Plagued Ogryn.
Here I will list the perks I chose for every 5 levels that the Psyker Psykinetic gains. After I will talk a little more about how all of these perks can synergize to create a good build.
Style: Back-Line
Focus: Anti-Elite
Melee Weapon: Weapon that doesn't generate peril
Ranged Weapon: Good accuracy hip fire weapon for close quarters encounters
Level 5: Kinetic Transference
"Replenish 50% Toughness over 5s on Brain Burst Kill."
- You will be out of the thick of the action, hopefully never getting too close into melee range, but in case you do get hit you will have your Toughness back in no time
Level 10: Wrack and Ruin
"Killing an Elite or Specialist with Brain Burst applies one stack of Agony to all enemies within 3 meters of the target."
- You will likely kill Elites and Specialists often with this build, and so this will be a great debuff for your allies that are keeping you protected from the Horde
Level 15: Cerebral Lacerations
"Damaging an Enemy with your Brain Burst ability causes them to take +15% Damage from all non-Warp sources for 5s."
- A great debuff against Elites or enemies with high health
Level 20: Mind in Motion
"Your movement speed is not reduced while Quelling Peril."
- This is incredibly important for this build, as this will give you enough movement to keep up with your team and to kite while spamming Brain Burst
Level 25: Kinetic Overload
"While you have maximum Warp Charges, gaining a Warp Charge instead applies a stack of Agony to a nearby enemy, prioritizing Elite enemies."
- This is a great de-buff to help your team, as you will have maximum warp charges often with this build.
Level 30: Kinetic Barrage
"For 10s after using Psykinetic Wrath, your Brain Burst charges 25% faster and consume 50% less Peril."
- With everything we've added to this build, this takes the cake and takes this build to a new level. Using this when going against an enemy like the Plagued Ogryn can really turn the tides in your favor quickly
If you are looking to exploit the Brain Burst to its max potential, this would be a good build to test out! It's feasible to be able to use this ability through an entire mission, with little reliance on your melee or ranged weapon, as long as your team is focusing horde and you are focusing elites.
